The heavy wire from the CENTER terminal to the generator is the ARMATURE.
The heavy wire on the left as you are facing the regulator - actually the right side relative to the vehicle itself - that goes through the firewall to the ammeter and then on to the starter terminal is the BATTERY lead. It is "almost certainly" not the ARMATURE lead.
There is a lighter wire that goes from the remaining terminal - FIELD - to the field terminal on the generator.
There is also a small wire from a ground terminal - may be a screw with a star washer - on the regulator frame (or housing)to the ground terminal on the battery.
