I just swapped to a 420 on my '53 and did not need the brake pedal brackett, although clearance is tight. I swapped in a fresh rebuilt engine, so it made sense to go with the 420 since I already had all the parts, and the power plant was out.
Non syncro is easy after you get the hang of it, as it only really is an issue in the down shift.
Well, unless your driving a big truck with a 4 + 4 and 2 speed rear end. Once you get lost shifting, the party's over. HaHaHa!!
