Sorry Paul, didn't see your question 'til now. John tells how to determine granny ratio [thanks John], and they used that 435 tranny in so many different manufacturer's trucks and models it's beyond me to know by model number and application.
Only reason I am familiar with the oddball DA27B is because one of my trucks has one, as a 1967 D-100 Town Wagon. According to a manual I saw years ago it is model/year specific as '67 only, with the 'Passing Gear' ratios. Don't know if I can find that manual for more info but I'll try....
An interesting note on 433, 435, 540, and 541 series 4 & 5 speeds is given in the 'Chilton's Truck Repair Manual 1961-1971' [ISBN 0-8019-6198-X], page 949:
Quote:
"NOTE: The transmissions, although both 4 speed and 5 speed, are basically the same in construction. The four speed transmission is actually a five speed with the second speed gear and second speed synchronizer inner ring removed from the mainshaft and replaced by a spacer."
I've never really figured that comment out, and as usual for Chilton's their pictures do not clearly describe what the text refers to!?
