Compression was the big factor,not to underplay the cam grind and change to 12VDC.
Of course there is still hp to be added,saved,or salvaged however you phrase it
by many little mods.
the hp was increased by raising the compression ratio. Mass produced cams lack the blueprint grind and to have a cam ground to specs will increase hp. Drop in a electronic conversion unit to replace the points and condenser giving the ignition system a hotter spark increasing efficiency and cold weather starts.Headers are almost always a surefire way to gain a few horses as well as a dual carb intake such as the Offenhouser alum. dual carb intake manifold.
replace the fixed fan with an electric one w/ temp. sensor to gain a few more horses eliminating the air friction caused by the fixed fan. If you can't gain 30hp or better from all that, it can't be had and the 230 is a worthless piece of crap.
