Good enough that I had to post this at the top of the page!
I just got back from Jonas's great NW Rally & was reading the posts I missed. When I got way down the page where you were discussing Power Wagon value & pricing I particularly liked Randy Baker's post.
Many many times here I have read about how disturbing the high P/W prices have gotten & how in 1981 somebody bought a nice original truck from an old lady for $600 & now they go for over $20K!
Are those people willing to sell their trucks for a fair mark-up of say 300%? No...of course not...they intend to pass their truck down to their grand kids & hopefully never to sell them.
Here's my gripe...I hear people on this forum constantly complain about these prices of the trucks & parts but those same people are in my mind 100% responsible for this trend.
Yes they are going up in price as they become rarer. It's the people that buy trucks & refuse to sell them that drive the prices through the roof. The fewer for sale the higher the prices go & there are only so many to go around.
I bet George Wellman's Woody would sell for up in the $75K+ price range & that is because there are no original Woody's for sale.
Am I complaining? No...just trying to point out that the gripers are the largest contributors to the high prices we are paying considering most of them own tons of parts, Power Wagon's...some several, but not often are any of them for sale.
Of course this statement will anger them but it's pretty straight forward...supply & demand. The more you take out of circulation, the less left in circulation to purchase & the higher price the yuppie has to pay to get his hands on one.
Want a Power Wagon...give me a call.
All mine are for sale at the right price! Ha Ha!
