You may be right about the L-heads and turbo but I have a picture of a L-head w/a paxton type supercharger. It is engine driven w/ a 90degree drive bend and the charger being vert. instead of horz.
I was at a jee0 shop that sold new and used jeep engines and parts and on a shelf I found
a modern supercharger for the 258 in-line 6.
I kept thinking how it might be adapted to a 251 but, since the 258 AMC is a in-line engine and now a proxy chrysler engine and the fuel injected version is rated at 190hp, it would seem that we should devote more energy towards adapting the 258 to the NP420 for a closer to stock setup than any other repowering setup. As I said they make superchargers for this engine and it would surely adapt more readily to a turbo and retain the working room associated with in-line engines. As for the slant -6, I like the reliability but I hate the design of the dist. and plugs being in a hard to get at placement.
