The pto is pretty simple, but be careful taking out the seals. If you can't get good access from behind the seal, drill a hole in it and put screws in and use a slide hammer to pull it out. There is a baffle behind one of the seals that can be damaged by being overzealous. I damaged it and had to use JB weld to repair it.
The military manual "Power Train, Body and Frame" from VPW shows a tear down but it is a little different, as it is for the pto for the NP 420 synchro tranny on the M-37 and later (post 55) PW's.
