I had done some exhaustive research on that subject myself, here locally some years back. None of the automotive paint dealers could cross the old ditzler numbers. And these guys had been in business since the 1950's. They told me, that even if the numbers would cross to something current, that the paint bases had changed so much in 40 years, that the resulting paint job would probably not appear to be the same shade as the original. Also, one would have to paint over black primer, as was originally done in some of the early years, in order to get the hue of the old paint. The old timers at the paint suppliers siad that they would have to custom mix and test paint samples by trial and error (which they are very good at). The old Dodge Truck Dark Green has a lot of black and yellow in it as apposed to Forest Green and some of the others that that have more blue tinting.

But, with that said, there has been a lot of talk on the subject here over the past few years. Some have claimed success in matching the old Dodge Truck Dark Green paint color through newer cross references and computer scanning.

Maybe check the archives at www.t137.com.

Good luck John.
Clint
