I don't have any plastic in mine, is yours a fairly new model? Mine is about 11 years old now, no problems except a torn o-ring that they replaced under warantee back when. I have two in a Jeep, Dana 30 and AMC 20 axles and two in a Dodge, Dana 44 and 60 axles, so far so good.
