Here's alittle trick, to temporary fix a gas leak.It can last up to several months.I don't think it would work if it's a higher pressure leak. But anyway by rubbing a bar of hand soap, say on a leaking seam on a gas tank,it quickly stops the leak.It should be a brand like IVORY,more pure with less additives.
The first time I saw this done was around 1973 when I worked in a motorcycle shop in L.A. A rider on a full dress Harley who came down from Canada pulled in on a Friday evening just at quitting time. His gas tank was leaking at the bottom edge seam on the right side tank.It was leaking a fast drip.
Anyway the boss said we're closed but I'll stop the leak till you can get back home.He went into the restroom and brought out a bar of Ivory soap, rudded it on the leak for five seconds or so and the leak completely stopped. The boss handed him a chunk of soap and a bussiness card and said "no charge".
Around two weeks later the boss gets a thank you call from Canada, the rider is back home, and the tank's still is not leaking, but he's ready to remove it and have it repaired.
Since then a have always carried a bar of Ivory in my road box and have used it once and got myself back home.
Just my old 2 cents, Mark
