{{I have a friend with a 1950 flathead 218 that had a auto torque converter
now he wants to put that motor in his 53 pickup. Question is which years
and engines can he expect to find a flywheel with 8 bolt holes that will
fit his motor. Thanks much in advance for any particulars concerning this
swap and what to avoid etc.}}
You can use several flywheels. They came in either 9½ or 10 inch diameters. The 8 bolt flywheels came in 1941-54 Chryslers and DeSotos, 1941-54 Dodges (up to number 1001 in '54), '53-54 Dodge passenger cars, '48-54 Dodge DU rte. van,'48-53 Dodge trucks model D, '54 Dodge truck models D & F without fluid drive, and 1946-54 Power Wagons without a diamond stamped on the number pad.
You can also use a 4 hole flywheel from a 1941-54 ½ and ¾ ton truck (without fluid drive) and Plymouth cars from 1935-54 (up to engine #243001)
