While living in Nairobi, Kenya East Africa (altitude 5,000 feet) I observed some creative "body shops" known as "panel beaters" could paint an entire car using a dixie cup filled with paint. A straw was taped vertical to the cup side with another straw taped across the cup rim. The painter would blow through the rim straw creating a low pressure at the top of the verticle straw, which sucked paint up it and was then atomized by the blower and onto the car. It was not easy and straw position was critical. Many of these guys were also smokers! Finish was a matter of technique. Runs were not common, some finishes were actually shiny and it took all day to put a top coat on a small 4 door sedan. If they had an EPA it would be pleased as there was very little overspray or waste. (I wonder what OSHA would have thought?) Painters with compressors and guns were a gaurantee of "lace currents" in your paint. Anyway for those who really want to keep their PW restoration low budget, now you have another option. Just trying to add to the enjoyment of our hobby!
