I also have a WC1 and have many of the same questions that you have. I have researched the subject in Booklands Military Vehicles and the Standard Catalog of US Military Vehicles by Thomas Berndt as well as read other postings on the subject. From what I have seen many early WC1 cabs were orignally designed for civilian use but were placed on WC1 from the factory to meet military orders. My truck also has rect. gauges, a center window crank and militay ID plate for a WC1. When I began restoring my truck I sanded through 4 layers of paint and found that the first layer of paint both inside and out was OD green.
