early/late 318s

This is Rocky needing help. I bought the 64 Towne Wagon from Bob. I'm thinking about putting in a later year 318 in place of the early staggered valve. Will it bolt to the bell housing or will it need to be replaced as well? Then will that bolt to the 4 spd trans? Has anyone done this before?
