The most strident true "environmentalists" that I know are the off-raoders who 'tread lightly', and those who use their trucks to hunt, fish and camp. In addition to the ranchers and farmers who actually depend upon the land for a living. They are the ones who actually use the environment and depend upon it's survival. Not the left and right coasters who live in cities and look at the pretty pictures in books and say "OH how pretty!".
Education, health care and employment are personal decisions that work best when the government stays out of them. The only real reason for a national government is foreign policy, that is why there are so many red counties.
