OT rant about them politicians

I just had an interesting conversation with Mrs. Bloom about our federal taxes. Last year the feds GAVE us an $800 tax credit. It was a "child credit" of $400 per minor child, times two, in our case.

This year, we received a dunning letter from them, asking for the $800 back, with interest and penalties, because we (our accountant) did not declare it on our tax return properly.

I do not blame the accountant, because several other people with whom I have spoken about this have had the same experience.

Has anyone else on this forum had this happen to them?
