I have heard,that a locking differential will decrease the likelyhood of the axles breaking.
An example, one wheel is spinning,because vehicle is stuck, all of a sudden that wheel catches traction and comes to a stop ,you can emagine the load placed on that one axle at that point.The locking differential would prevent this from happening,by alternating power from one wheel to the other,with lower dynamic forces.
Never thought much about this,but it makes sence,specialy if a V8 installation is planned? Good Luck Lucian
