Take a chisel with a sharp point and gently poke two holes 180 degrees apart in the seal. Tap these with a 5/16-NC. The seal is 3/4" thick and the chips stay in the seal.
Get some 5/16-NC bolts that are 3" long. Now you can use a two bolt puller and with the center screw of the puller, just push against the pinion end. The seal comes right out.
If your replacing the seal with a leather seal, soak the leather with 3-in-1 oil before installing
