That isn't a white D300 flatbed is it?
The wood should be White Oak, 1 x 8, Select or Clear #1. That should give you 7/8" to 3/4" thick by 7 1/2" to 7 1/4" wide. Local terminology may differ but "Select", "Clear" or #1 is a mill term meaning no knots.
