The Poly mounts can be used on the LA, in fact the Helitool kit is geared to the Poly. CRS had me in it's crips but I think one of the Poly mounts has to be reversed to fit the LA, just can't remember which side. Any pre '67, 318 should be a Poly if it is original.
You lost me on the markings comment, but the Poly is easily identified, it has the "scalloped" lower edge on the valve covers.
