Years ago I worked for the US Forest Service in the Olympic mountains. One day I was driving up a valley and was 300' off the valley floor on the side of a ridge. Next thing I knew there was a loud noise and I saw a Navy jet from Whidbey Island NAS below me in the valley headed up the valley. He then put his wings vertical turned up the right fork of the valley right in front of me. It took all of five seconds or less for this happen but I still remember it very clearly. The Navy jets use to practice their terraine following skills in the Olympics.
