Is someone in the Forum from Alaska?

In spite of the mis-belief that Alaska is one giant ice pack and snow drift, I know they have a lot of wooded area.

A relative mentioned that they plan to visit there soon, but I thought someone here had said that the brush fires up there were bad to the point of heavy smoke haze in some areas.

Was this incorrect? If it is correct, what areas are poor for tourism right now?
