The link below is to a page I wrote on engine numbers. It covers the factory claims as to what engine numbers are, and what I have found on real trucks.

Some of the real truck numbers are a best guess based on trucks from a year before or after, but most are based on actual trucks.

The images near the top show the engine number location, and if you post your engine number here I should be able to tell you what it is from if it does not match the list.
