Has Anyone Powdercoated Their Wheels?

Time to clean them up and paint or powdercoat my Budd wheels. Should care be taken not to coat the back of the lip where the split ring seats on the wheel? Just a thought. The ring may not fit right, or it may pose a safety issue if there is not enough friction between the ring and the back of the face of the wheel- Boing....(screaming)....(sirens). Any thoughts? Experience good or bad? Thanks.
