For the first time in 30 years I took the wheels apart and tires off (new NDT's going on). Pitting and deterioration exists in a broad area where the lock ring ends came together (entry point for moisture I guess). 90% of the metal is still there though. Pretty thick looking. Is this normal for these vee-hicles, or am I facing a potential problem?
Other areas of the wheel seem to be surface rust only.
I'll be having a truck tire center do the re-assembly for the often discussed here safety reasons.
Also, OK to wire brush then prime with rust primer, or should I have these blasted and powder coated at a lot of expense?
