There were some questions a few forums ago about axle swaps. Well today I sucessfully installed a set of Dana 70's underneath a WDX Power Wagon chassis. It is quite simple procedure. The front axle is a direct swap, no modifications are nessicary. The rear axle requires you to pop the spring perches off the axle housing and move them out just a bit to line up with the rear springs.
I used a set of 70's out of a IHC 1 ton 4x4. It uses 4.56 gears, and International was liberal with the use of Detriot lockers, and "no-spin", limited slip differentials.
They have a modern 8 lug hub, so theres a bit more of a selection of wheels to choose from.
The truck is my "beater" snowplow rig so authenticity is not really an issue.
Pictures to follow in a few days.
