Bob, I have a 61 WM300 Howe fire truck pumper
with 2 vacume boosters. One for the Brakes, and
I believe the other is for the pump. I am not sure if it works, but there is a toggle
switch on the pump panel, and if I remember
correctly, it feeds a solonoid under the truck. I think that if the pump was engaged off the pto and you fed power to the solonoid by turning on the toggle switch, the solenoid would open a vacume line to the 2nd booster, and the booster, in turn, would
somehow disengage the pump from the pto. This would save the truck engineer from having to keep jumping in the cab to disengage the pump via the pto lever. I am pretty sure that was the idea, but I never took the time to study it that closely. The solenoid on my truck is not functioning at this point. You can see photos of my Howe PW
