When I bought my '54 PW it had a Ford PS Pump mounted on the upper right (front) of the engine block pumping through a GM "spool valve" on the drag link and actuating a hydraulic cylinder mounted to the rear of the front axle and moving the tie rod. It makes aiming my "Swampers" really easy. I showed the PS set up at the '97 and '98 Iowa Rallies. My '62 Ford car had about the same. Instead of a "spool valve" the fluid was directed by a unit on the bottom of the steering box (The steering wheel shaft went through the steering box) Some big "W" and "D" Dodges had a "move the tie rod" power steering set up stock but I don't know any details. Tim Peterson has a great article in the PWA on adding PS to an M-37. It is harder on PW's since the steering box is inside the frame - outside on the M-37. Frank Irons' new 440 powered '55 PW has a super PS set up.
