Bob, yeah, that ratio worked out well. I think the rear is 4.88, the front is 4.89. If you drive in 4wd on dry dirt, you may notice a bit of slipping in the rear (light load) tires due to the slight difference. My Ford F-600 came from the factory with 6.20/6.22 ratios and I notice it. It allows you to reverse for a few feet and it will take the "wind-up" out of your drive line and make it easier to shift to 2wd. I don't know if the 8 lug hubs would fit. As for the u-joint, I can look for cross-overs in my Spicer handbook, but I won't be able to do that for several weeks as i'm traveling now. Rob
