I am not sure that 500 were made, but just to give you an idea read below.
The 1961-66 W100 Town Wagons were built on the same 114" WB chassis that the regular 1961-66 W100 pickups used.
Dodge only gives the breakdown of trucks made in a given year by model (D100, W100, D500, etc), and engine (V8 or 6cyl).
So for 1962 there were:
490 W100s made with 6cyls, (all body styles)
297 W100s made with V8s, (all body styles)
That is a total of 687 W100s made in 1962, how many would you guess were TW/TPs? I have always thought it would be between 10% and 20%, so between 60 and 130 W100 (4wd) Town Wagons and Town Panels were made in 1962 if my guess is correct.
If that is the average, then in the 1961-66 run of W100 TWs, there were most likely 500-600 4wd Town Wagons made.
There is no way to know for sure until someone digs up the correct numbers from the Chrysler archives, but as I have been told that era of record was lost, we will most likely never know.
4wd TWs were made by Dodge starting in 1957, but the 57-60 models are much more rare then the 61-66 models.
I hope this gives you a bit of insight, good luck with your auction!
Eric
