I've done a few of these, and as Chris says it depends how much you have to do. The strip itself is paper thin, but the metal surrounding it is quite chunky. If it's one or two inches of the seam that's rotted out, just hit it with a grinder, MIG up the joint, MIG on a piece of flattened brake tubing, and finish with filler / sealer.
If it's all the way across, but the panelling is sound either side, weld it all the way across and put on a full width strip of flattened brake tube.
If the header panel itself is rotten just carve it out and stick on a donor section as you can see me do in the attached link, but it isn't for the faint-hearted.
