Need Flathead six help!

Howdy:

my neighbor has an old FOrklift with a Chrysler industrial flathead six in it. I am not shure if it is a smallblock six or a big block six. He tells me the engine code on the side is a 223. What size engine is this? Thanks for the help, so I can start to locate a replacement for it.
