That rear axle should be a 'C' clip type. Drain and remove the rear diff cover, push the axles into the diff as far as possible, and then remove the 'C' clips from both axle ends inside the carrier. The axles should slip right out of the tubes, along with the brake drums and wheels (if you left them on). This type of axle is easy to work on, but aren't much fun when you break an axle because the broken stub plus the wheel will just slide right out if you're moving at all.
