I've towed with U-Haul trailers & a U-Haul tow dolly before I bought my trailer...I don't recommend it. The trailer is way too light...tie downs too short to reach over the tires the way they are supposed to go & the surge brakes they use just aren't good.
As for the dolly, same deal with the tie downs...too short to reach over the tires & so you end up going over the steering knuckles & there just isn't enough leverage to hold your P/W on the dolly.
The hubs hit & ruin the dolly's plastic fenders & because the truck is too wide the dolly can't pivot like it's supposed to.
It's too light, it's illegal & it's not safe.
That being said, would I use one again in an emergency? Yes. Would I go to IA or KY to buy a truck & plan such a tow home? No.
That's my opinion on the subject!
