I have to agree with the concensus on the prodigy, it is very smooth and accurate. I opted for the $27 cable that fits right into the receotacle in the truck.
I always tow gooseneck trailers, and have tried many different types of hitches.
My first was a Reese that had rails mounted in the bad, then you could add either a gooseneck bridge (The Goose), or a fifth wheel setup. Depending on what you wanted to tow, it was a nice option. I never got to anything other than a gooseneck though.
On my next one, I opted for a nice setup that I found in our regional horse journal. It was called a PopUp Ball hitch: http://www.popuphitch.com/
This worked ok, but tended to be rough to operate. The convenient thing was that the hole was only about a 3" diameter, and all parts fit like a glove and assembles in about 2-1/2 hours in my garage alone.
On my '03, I opted for their flip over hitch: http://www.popuphitch.com/
This is by far the easiest to install and operate. It takes a 3-1/2" hole, but a good holesaw is about $20. The safety chain holes are 5/8" ina all components sit below rib level of the bed without a liner, and stil works well with a liner.
Sorry for the lengthy reply.
Enjoy your new Ram, I love mine.
