curious casting symbols found

Anyone know the meaning of the symbol I keep finding on parts made of cast iron on a civilian wagon that is shaped like a bunch of dots arranged in a circle with an arrow in the middle pointing towards one of the dots. The last one I found was on my bellhousing which also has part #s and date tags making me think the symbol represents something other than that
