Because I lived in Southern California, and the vehicle lived in a garage, I'm had a removable canvas top made for the roof. That way we had a "sunroof" most of the time, but could button it up if rain found us outdoors. I added a rope channel at the front of the roof opening and three footman loops on each side, plus three at the rear. Straps sewn into the milspec canvas top went through the footman loops to hold the top down snug. A local canvas shop made up the top from my drawings and material... price wasn't bad, around $150 if I remember correctly. It worked well in Southern CA, but it probably wasn't weather tight for day to day operations anyplace that got real rain.
