I was told if you drive interstate (accross state lines) in a truck for hire with a GVW of 10,001 lbs and you are doing it for hire you need a DOT Number on your truck and have to go over the scales. You better have the correct paper work showing your driving times during the last 7 days (log Book) or you can be fined. This is a Federal Law and has nothing to do with the State Rules. Mark H.
