Stock is .003 from factory, TRW's need .007 atleast. While most books reccommend 7, that will mean no smokeing for the life of the next set of rings. I'd live with looser clearances, since the wear is at the top, the skirts should still be tight, if the pistons aren't worn. Most shops would like to rebore and fit everthing to factory new specs, they are interested in maximum longevity/ minumum complaints at maximum profits . Personally, I LIKE to overhaul engines.....
