I recently built my second 24X48 machine pole shed. THe front has poles at 16 foot intervals for 3 bays. In one bay I poured 5 1/2" of concrete (width of a 2X6).
I formed it up myself and used 4X4" woven steel wire flats sections for reinforcement (easier to handle than the rolls). Then I had a pro supervise the pour and finish it for me. I wanted more strength than a four inch slab becasue of the weight of the truck plus things like heavy compressors, machine tools, the tendency to drop heavy things, etc, etc. I do not think you will be sorry to make it a little thinker.
