Talking to someone the other day who processes maple syrup the "old-fashioned" way. He was saying that they have developed new and ingenious ways to extract every ounce of sap --- everything from using cordless drills to drill the tree, vacuums to suck the sap out of the tree, (??), re- (capture)process the steam from the sap boiling, squirrel proof the tubing, etc. etc. !!!
