Be careful, some e-Mail viruses have HTML code in the e-Mail that will launch the virus with out you opening the attachments. MS Outlook has as even more potential issues of opening an e-Mail launching a virus as well.
That's why I use Mail Washer more and more these days, as it strips out all the images (and their tracking cookies that let them know you opened the e-Mail) and only gives you straight test so that you can review the message before retrieving it with your e-Mail program, or opening it in your WEB-Mail application.
These types of e-Mail virus attacks will either force a new e-Mail standard (hopefully NOT a pay per mail type, IE: US Postal Stamp) that provides security and real authenticity, or will send everyone to strictly using the WEB based solutions like Hotmail that filters out most of these through it’s inelegance filters.
