The 8" on each side is figuring with my mirrors extended in a 10' door opening. My truck is 8'-8" mirror to mirror, that is 16" less than 10', at least it was this morning? 16" divided by two should be 8". I'm glad I could clear that up for you......= )

...now if you are getting 18 mpg and drive through a 12' door, you will have........
