WDX-WM300 Hood hinge upgrade

I'm kicking around ideas trying to come up with something to improve the hood hinges on these trucks. Seems the ends are always broke. Is it because of bad alignment, fatigue, abuse, or all of the above? I've got a NOS one but don't want to install it and have it break up in a year. I'll at least put a solid wire in the rolled ends. These hinges defintely were not one of Dodge's better moments. What have you guys done or am I the only one with this problem? All 3 of the trucks I've owned had broken hinges when I got them. Any help or ideas appreciated. Kevin
