Some say that weasels, due to hull being relatively large and low to the ground, can get themselves stuck in deep snow easier than Tuckers. Apparently if the snow is deep and soft, they can just sit on their wide belly and flail away. Tuckers, of course, are not meant to be amphibious and they'll go in soft snow with the snow above the top of the tracks. In their day, weasels were used a lot in swamps and muskegs where they needed to both crawl and swim.
Hey, Tom, did you get one of your parts rigs from up Burke? I heard there was a guy up Burke that just sold his "army snow cat with two tracks and a Studebaker motor". I figured it was an M29, but I didn't know there was such a thing as an M28. Never saw it myself. The guy that told me about it said you needed to separate the machine like a tractor to get the engine out.
