Great Tip For Leaky Steering Box

I was talking with an old ex-logger a few days ago that was telling me Power Wagon stories.
Apparently they had several P/W's, Marmons & other 4x4's within the company. He said that whenever a driver started acting up they'd put him in the Power Wagon for a few days & that'd usually tune him up! Ha Ha!
He was giving me great tips on Winch & Steering box lubrication...he says they used to fill them with STP & no more leaks.
Has anyone ever tried this?
The lubriplate we were discussing several forums back is about the same viscosity...no?
