Kevin: Only the very earliest WDX beds had a short (perhaps 6" long) section of the round bed rail forward of the spare tire storage flat section. It was a nice non-functional detail that properly framed the spare tire when mounted, but probably was too costly to install from a company bean-counter's perspective, so was soon removed from production WDX beds. This short rail section can be seen on the cover drawing of a WDX in the first postwar PW sales brochure "The New Dodge General Purpose POWER-WAGON". Unless your WDX is among the very first produced, it will not have this forward short round rail section. For those who have one, it's a detail to cherish.
