It would be a good idea. The procedure is easy but first you'll have to buy a priming tool. They only cost about 15 dollars. You then half to remove the distributor, put the priming tool in which usually runs off a drill and then run the drill until you get oil pressure. I usually install a manual gauge at the back of the motor next to the distributor hole. I believe it's 1/8 pipe. At the very least if you do not prime, fill the engine with oil disconnect the coil wire and crank the engine until you see oil pressure, best to do this with the spark plugs out.
