I'm attempting to put dual rear wheels on my 3/4 ton 1979 W200.
It's got the D60 rear. The problem is, I've never had the
opportunity to take dually rear wheels off a truck, so I don't
know exactly how they work (or what all the parts needed are).
I don't know if they'll fit on my existing axle, or if special
shaped brakes/hubs are needed. I assume I'll need longer lug studs.
Can anyone clear this up for me, and even tell me what I need to
dig up at the junk yard, wheel wise? I've had someone tell me
there's a spacer involved between the wheels, others said the
rims touch each other in the middle.. Thanks for any help you can
provide.
BTW, please don't point out that having 4 tires instead of 2 is
going to increase the load capacity of my axle, I know that
already. :)
