I have recently installed a rebuilt early model transmission in my 1950 Power-Wagon, replacing the original late model that had severe 3rd gear problems. My problem is that I can move the forward part of the propellor shaft forward and backward about a quarter inch. The forward yoke slides on the shaft out of the transmission. The nut that holds the yoke on is tightened up. There is a washer under the nut and if it was thicker the shaft wouldn't move. Is this normal? Is the propeller shaft hook up the same for both late and early model transmissions?
